My target 85 kms
In loving memory of my grandad, Alan Stevens... I have pledged along with my mum to walk 85k during June 2020. This is our way of saying a huge thank-you to a charity very close to our hearts.
Now more than ever St Ann's Hospice needs our support!
I'm taking part in the virtual Manchester Walk to support St Ann's Hospice. Throughout June I will be challenging myself to hit my distance and fundraising targets, to support an organisation that does so much for our community.
By donating and showing your support we can enable St Ann’s Hospice to provide care to people and their families living with a life-limiting illness in the Greater Manchester community. They provide a range of free services to patients, carers, and their loved ones from three sites as well as supporting patients in their own homes.
Join Team St. Ann’s today to ensure they're always there – wherever and whenever they are needed.
Miles for SmilesTuesday 9th Jun Alongside my mum I have decided to take part in the virtual walk, in memory of my Grandad who passed away last year after being diagnosed with cancer. For anyone who knew my Grandad he was always out and about, whether it was going out on walks or enjoying various sports.
When we were younger there was rarely a time when he and my grandma were looking after us that we didn't go out and do something. The best bit about it was that you couldn't walk more than 5 minutes without bumping into someone he knew and stopping to talk to them. He never seemed happier than when he was out talking to people about anything and everything.
When he got ill one of the hardest things was watching the simple things like going out on walks being taken away from him. But that never took away his ability to cheer me up and make me smile with the most random of conversations. The people from St Ann's Hospice helped him and my grandma so much giving him the best care possible and that is why we have chosen to donate any money raised to this charity.
This walk is in memory of my Grandad and all the great times we had together. Whether it was going out on walks or seeing his face light up when he talked to anyone, whether he knew them or not, he always made my days better. I miss you so much Grandad and hope we do you proud. Share
