Manchester Walk goes Virtual
It’s a challenging time for everyone, and at St Ann’s we urgently need to raise money to enable us to continue caring for patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses when they need us most. We’re having to think outside the box to help us raise the funds we need in these difficult circumstances, and this year, we’re turning our iconic Manchester Midnight Walk virtual!
Now more than ever we need your support.
Our virtual event is a unique adaptation of our popular Manchester Midnight Walk and Manchester Midday Walks. The combined event means everyone – whatever their age - can get involved in with a challenge to walk 5k in one day or 10k over any week of June.
You can take part however and whenever you want to through June. Perhaps you will do the distance in your garden or house, or as part of your daily exercise. You can take part however you wish, as long as you stay safe; we’d love you to video your amazing fundraising efforts and tag St Ann’s Hospice on social media, so we can share with our supporters too!

Why St Ann's?
Our hospice only receives around a third of its funding from the NHS, with our amazing supporters generously raising the additional £20,000 a day we need to continue providing our care to patients and their loved ones. Due to the current climate, many of our fundraising events and other activities have been postponed, which has impacted heavily on the vital income we need to support patients. Your donations will help our hospice to continue to provide that care, right when those patients and their families need it most. Our virtual walk gives everyone the opportunity to take on the challenge in June.
How does my fundraising help?
Every penny raised helps us to provide much-needed holistic care to our patients and their loved ones. For example a donation of £20.39 could pay for a pack of 25 Masks with visors, £30.25 could pay for time for a patient to receive specialist support from a psychological support team member to help identify when some extra or different help is needed and £45.36 could fund a pack of 50 gowns.
When you join #TeamStAnns, you become a part of an active community that generously provides much-needed funds for our services to our patients, and we can't thank you enough.
Help us make a difference
St Ann’s Hospice is one of the oldest in the UK, and in 2021 we will be entering our 50th year of care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses. We’ve been part of our local communities for almost half a century, offering specialist care, therapies and truly holistic support to those who need it the most.
